Great discussion on your experience going north and south. For us, we had a reasonable weather window to start ( 1500 at thomas to Hampton ) and as expected the second half had its challenges. But I think the short hop concept really makes sense if you have places to stop.
Fuel management was spot on. We constantly monitor our fuel consumption and frequently recalculate our motor sailing range vs distance to go vs time available so we know if we have the luxury to sail with what wind there is vs push. We have the luxury of a lot larger fuel reserves, but still maintain a vigilant fuel watch. More jugs is better ( we need to create a jug exchange 😉 for our extra jugs
