Got Bugs??

BugsEeee-ow.  None of us like bugs, whether they’re flying around, biting us or getting into the food.  I don’t know about you, but I just plain want them gone.  Actually, I don’t even want to encounter them in the first place.

But in cruising, we’re pretty much living outside.  On most boats, there’s not much of a dividing line between inside and outside.  So we have to deal not just with flying insects and ants when we’re in the cockpit or at a beach party, we have to deal with keeping them out of the food and other places where they just don’t belong.

And so, here are a bunch of articles on how to discourage bugs from bothering you in the first place and what to do if you do get an invasion.

  1. Warmer weather? Yesterday I was swimming in the marina pool. Today I have the heater on while I watch the rain and temps drop to 40.

  2. Carolyn, what do you know about spiders? We had them on the inland rivers in the past and could control thembywashing the boat exterior regularly. Now after three months in Canada they have taken up residence in every canvas crevice and seam. Hate to bomb. Have scrubbed. They hide and then reappear. Suggestions?
